Strings are the engine of your racquet. The same racquet can feel completely different with a different string or tension. At Prokick, you choose your string and tension when you order, and our team strings your racquet on a digital stringing machine before it’s shipped.
Buy a racquet on prokicksports.com, pick your string and tension, and we string it for you free.
How our stringing service works
- Choose your racquet. Pick any strung or unstrung racquet. Unstrung Tour and Pro racquets are perfect for custom stringing.
- Choose your string. Select from popular strings by Yonex, Li-Ning, Victor and more on the product page.
- Choose your tension. Pick the lbs you want. Not sure? Use the tension guide below, or WhatsApp us.
- We string it on a digital machine. Our team uses a digital Li-Ning E-4000 stringing machine for accurate, consistent tension.
- Safe packing. Racquets strung above 25 lbs get special thermocol packaging to protect the frame during transit.
Which tension should you choose?
| Level | Tension | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Beginner | 18 – 23 lbs | Softer string bed, bigger sweet spot, easy power, strings last longer |
| Intermediate | 24 – 27 lbs | Good balance of power and control |
| Advanced | 27 lbs + | More control and feel, but needs a fast, accurate swing |
| Tension | Power | Control | Durability | Feel |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lower | Easier | Less | Higher | Softer |
| Higher | Harder (needs technique) | More | Lower | Crisper |
How to choose a badminton string
- Thickness (gauge): badminton strings range from about 0.61 mm to 0.70 mm. Thinner strings give more repulsion and a crisper sound but break sooner. Thicker strings last longer.
- Feel: some strings feel soft and comfortable, others hard and crisp. Hard-feel strings suit attacking players; soft-feel strings are kinder on the arm.
- Durability vs repulsion: if you break strings often, choose a thicker, durable string. If you want maximum power and feel, choose a thinner string.
- Length: a standard string set is about 10 m long, and one racquet uses around 8 m.

String care tips from our stringers
- Strings lose tension over time (“tension creep”), starting from the day they’re strung. Regular players should restring every 2–3 months.
- Long break from playing? If your racquet is strung above 24 lbs and you won’t play for more than about 45 days, consider cutting the strings to protect the frame shape.
- If one string breaks, cut out all the strings soon. Leaving a broken string bed unbalances tension and can distort the frame.
- Keep racquets away from heat, such as car boots and direct sun.
- Strings are a wear-and-tear item and can break during play, so string damage is not covered under warranty.
